Srinagar, March 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the closing ceremony of 71st BN Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship on Monday.
 
The final match of the championship was played between Mizoram Police & Assam Rifles. Both the teams have overcome tough opposition, injuries and setbacks to reach this final stage. However, their resilience and fighting spirit have seen them through the challenges, and today they fought for the championship, which was witnessed by large gathering from all walks of life especially the students who enjoyed the match and supported their best team. 
 
Mizoram Police team put all their efforts to get through the defence of Assam Rifles and scored the goal in the first half. Assam battles rigorously in second half but not enough in terms of really testing Mizoram goal keeper & lost the most prestigious title. The match ended with the final score of 1:0.
 
Congratulating all the participants and winners, the Lt Governor said it is indeed an honour for J&K to host the Championship.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor paid tributes to B N Mullik and said this tournament which saw participation of players from around the country is a befitting tribute to him for his exemplary service to the nation.
 
The teams from various states and CAPFs have strengthened the spirit of unity in diversity and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, said the Lt Governor.
 
The leadership, discipline, enthusiasm, valor& sacrifice of our brave soldiers & officers of the police & CAPF is an inspiration to the society and people, he added.
 
The Lt Governor further said that we are continuously working to establish an environment that is conducive to stability, security and economic development of the region.
 
The Lt Governor shared the development journey of J&K since the last three years.
 
He highlighted the rapid industrial development taking place in J&K and observed that a new industrial revolution has started in the Union Territory.
 
Dilbag Singh, DGP, officers of Civil and Police Administration, players, coaches, managers of the State Police and Central Security Forces teams were present.
 
The event was declared open jointly by Director General of Police, J&K Dilbag Singh and Director IB, New Delhi Shri Tapan Kumar Deka on 12th of March 2023. 42 teams from across the country including 34 men, 8 women teams participated in the championship.
