ECI announces HD cameras in sensitive zones 

Move aims at ensuring transparency & monitoring illegal activities

Jammu, Mar 28: In a significant move aimed at ensuring free and fair elections with maximum transparency, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the installation of High Definition (HD) cameras in all sensitive zones across the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
Official sources revealed that the decision to deploy HD cameras in sensitive areas of J&K aims to closely monitor polling stations for any illegal activities, particularly in zones identified as sensitive within the UT.
Additionally, PK Pole, a spokesperson, emphasized that Static Surveillance Teams and Flying Squads, integral to maintaining order during the upcoming 2024 LokSabha elections, will also be equipped with HD cameras or webcams to effectively monitor and deter any illicit activities in sensitive areas of J&K during the polls.
The J&K Election Department has initiated the tendering process for this purpose, with bids set to be opened on the March 30at 1 pm.
Under the directives of the ECI, the Jammu and Kashmir Election Department has conducted training sessions for officials assigned to Flying Squads and other nodal roles for the forthcoming LokSabha elections. Training for polling staff designated for the 2024 Parliamentary elections is scheduled to commence shortly. Senior officer Rameshawar confirmed the completion of training for flying squad members, Returning Officers (ROs), Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), Nodal Officers, and other key personnel. Furthermore, the ECI has ensured the provision of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to all 20 districts of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming 2024 LokSabha elections. These EVMs have been securely received and stored in the strong rooms of each district, bolstering preparations for the electoral process.
The deployment of HD cameras, alongside comprehensive training and the provision of necessary electoral equipment, reflects the commitment of the ECI and the J&K Election Department to conduct fair and transparent elections in the region, ensuring the integrity of the democratic process.
 
 
 
RO 5-JammuParliamentary Constituency prepares for polls
In anticipation of the upcoming LokSabha elections, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, the Returning Officer for the Jammu Parliamentary Constituency, has officially issued an election notification, setting the stage for a significant political event in the region.
Scheduled to coincide with the second phase of the electoral process, the notification provides candidates and stakeholders with essential dates and procedures crucial for participation in the democratic exercise.
Nomination papers, vital for candidacy, can be submitted by candidates or their proposers at specified offices, including the Returning Officer’s office in Jammu and the Deputy Commissioner’s office located on Wazarat Road. The filing window is open from 11:00 am to 03:00 pm on non-public holidays until April 04, 2024. Nomination forms are available at the Returning Officer's office, ensuring accessibility for all prospective candidates.
Subsequent to the nomination filing, a meticulous scrutiny of the submitted papers is slated for April 06, 2024, commencing at 11:00 am, at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Jammu. This scrutiny process is essential to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and ensure compliance with election regulations.
Candidates will have until April 08, 2024, 03:00 pm, to withdraw their candidature if they opt to do so, marking a crucial decision point in the electoral journey.
The polling day, eagerly awaited by citizens, has been scheduled for April 26, 2024. On this day, voters will exercise their democratic rights between the hours of 07:00 am and 06:00 pm, contributing to the democratic process in the Jammu Parliamentary Constituency.
The issuance of the election notification underscores the democratic spirit prevailing in the region, with candidates and political parties gearing up for an intense electoral contest.
