Kashmiri women farmers receive Kissan drones for modernizing agriculture

Pulwama :In a significant stride towards modernizing farming practices, Indian Potash Limited (IPL) transferred drone technology on Tuesday by providing two Kissan Drones to members of a self-help group (SHG) in the LalMandi area of Srinagar district. These drones were handed over to two girls from Budgam district, who recently completed a 10-day drone training program in Gurgaon, New Delhi, under the Namo Drone Didi Programme. 
Officials said that the introduction of these Kissan Drones aims to revolutionize the farming sector, offering solutions to save time and money for farmers while providing livelihood opportunities for women. 
The distribution ceremony, attended by Director of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Kashmir, Mohammad IqbalChaudhry, and other department officials, underscored the collaborative efforts driving agricultural advancement in the region. Mohammad IqbalChaudhry emphasized the government's push for creating common facilities in specific areas, highlighting IPL's facilitation of the 10-day drone training for the two girls from Budgam district. He described the drone technology as the future of farming, citing its potential to enhance agriculture productivity through smart utilization of pesticides and fertilizers. 
RifatArra, one of the SHG members from Budgam, expressed her enthusiasm for the program, stating that she learned about it from IPL officials and subsequently joined the training course in Gurgaon, New Delhi. She emphasized the importance of drone utilization in modernizing farming techniques, reflecting the growing recognition of technology's role in agricultural sustainability. 
The participation of IPL officials, including Sales Officer Zameer Ahmad Bhat and Sheikh Mujeeb, along with the General Manager of Sheezan Trading Co., Zahoor Ahmed Wani, highlighted the commitment of various stakeholders to drive innovation and empower farmers through technological interventions.
