Taking a pledge to work for the betterment of the education sector, the Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said government won’t compromise over quality education.
Speaking at an inaugural ceremony of two-day book exhibition on Saturday here, he said that the government is planning to take harsh steps for the better quality education system in the state and teachers must get ready for facing harsh dictions in this regard.
“We are planning to take radical steps keeping in demand the better education system so teachers should be mentally prepared for that,” Bukhari said.
Bukhari said that harsh steps may include the deduction in salaries of some teachers and so teachers should be ready for that.
“We are planning to deduct House Rent allowance (HRA) for the teachers of Srinagar who are doing their duty in Srinagar and the same HRA will benefit the teachers who travels from Srinagar to Kupwara or other districts,” Bukhari said.
“Not particularly for the teachers of Srinagar, any teacher working in the vicinity will be refrained from the HRA. If the same will be provided to someone who travels across different districts,” he added.
Bukhari was the Chief Guest at the two day book exhibition organized by Directorate of School Education at Sri Pratap Higher Secondary (SPHS) along with many dignitaries of JKBOSE and Directorate of School Education.
The workshop is being organized to develop the habit of book reading among youth as the internet technology has spread like venom.
