Police on Thursday claimed that they have arrested a local militant at Bellow area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A Police officer told Rising Kashmir that they have arrested a local militant along with two grenades after a joint team of Army’s 44RR, SOG and CRPF laid Naka at Bellow area in the district.
“The arrested militant was identified as Irshad Ahmad Dar son of Ali Mohammad Dar resident of Khanka Bagh Pampore in Pulwama. We have recovered two Chinese grenades and a magazine with 6 live rounds from his procession,” the officer said.
As per initial inputs, the militant was associated with a newly militant outfit ‘The Resistance Front (TRF). Police have registered a case in this regard and further investigation has been initiated.
Police said on Wednesday that 8 militants have surrendered during the live encounter operations this year and among them 5 surrendered in October month alone.
However, 180 militants have been killed so far this year during anti-militancy operations in the Valley.
