On Freedom and Lockdown

Never had we imagined a time would come

When a tiniest creature may suddenly come

Who knows an alien from nowhere with what mission

May put humans in lockdown to teach what lesson

Untimely and unexpected a news he came with

The order of the world is now going to change

May it be that we change now

Lest it may be that it will change us

Only when we are in lockdown now, do we know the meaning of real freedom

Grounded and quarantined, do we realise now the blessing of living in freedom

O how for granted the freedom was when we had it

The pleasure of breathing in open and fresh air was not more than an ordinary thing

And the joy of roaming around wherever we can has always been there while we closed our eyes to it

The parties and get togethers and sharing of joys and laughter were like all casual

The meetings and gatherings were no more than putting up appearances and passing time

Wouldn't it be for the tiniest creature, we wouldn't appreciate the freedom we had

Wouldn't it be for the invisible thing, we wouldn't value the freedom much

Lockdown came like a clarion call, blowing the trumpet to save all

Lockdown fell like a silence of gloom upon the joyful and vibrant lands

Fear and uncertainty has engulfed all, the rich and the poor, the small and the tall

The clamour and activity has come to a pass

All fun is lost when freedom is lost

Think of a person in open prison with deliveries and pleasures at the gate

And advised to stay in and stay safe

The food may not fill him as much as the breath of open air and the warmth of open sun

With every day of lockdown, inconvenience and discomfort don't come to an end

As humans can't wait to move for anexpansion, limitless

How much misery and fear the thing has spelled out

Corona has thrown the life of humans into fear and out of gear

Would that a day will come when we get through it

We will live with much more sense and consciousness

Appreciating every little blessing and convenience we have

And give no room to negligence and carelessness

Let the better sense stay with us and we value the freedom and blessings of Lord we have
