Waqf Board now takes decisions at ground zero: Dr Darakhshan

Kishtwar, March 20: Chairperson J&K Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Monday said that Waqf authorities are now continuously working at the ground level throughout Jammu & Kashmir. 
“For the first time in its history, Waqf Board takes decisions on ground zero and this approach has helped us too in understanding the basic issues at each location,” Dr Andrabi said. 
She was on an extensive tour of the Kishtwar district. During her visit, the chairperson visited both the shrines of Shah Mohammad Farid Ud din Baghdadi (RA) and Shah Mohammad Asrar Ud din Baghdadi (RA) and paid obeisance there, the Board said in a statement. She also visited Islamia Faridiya Educational and Research Institute Kishtwar and launched a mobile app (School Bee) for all school-going children. 
Dr Andrabi appreciated the efforts made by the Waqf Board Unit Kishtwar and directed the entire team to shift to the digital working system. The students of Islamia Faridya Hr Sec School and B.Ed students performed in two brief but impressive functions which were presided over by Dr Andrabi. 
The Waqf Board chairperson also visited Sakhi Shah Zain Ud din Wali (RA) at Rakna Palmar and laid the foundation for repair and renovation works for the upgradation of facilities at the ziyarat. “A large number of locals met the chairperson and raised various issues like the beautification of ziyarat, the upgradation of Sakhi Academy and the construction of Sarai for Zaireen. The chairperson assured that all genuine demands will be fulfilled by Waqf Board,” the statement said.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi was accompanied by CEO Waqf Dr Syed Majid Jahangir, Administrator Waqf Kishtwar Zakir Hussain Wani, Mudassir Iqbal Administrator Waqf Jammu, DDC Palmar, BDC Palmar and officials from police and civil administration.
